Because I had to dismantle my layout to fix pin hole water holes in the ceiling and to add solar panels, I have decided to use this to change operating strategies. Instead of trying to see how many trains I can run simultaneously (over 30 +) I am going more into operating the layout with lots of storage tracks (ross yard turnouts on both ends), a turntable, and the ability to go between levels.

Now the whole basement is mine .. room size 14x27.. so I have the opportunity to build the "dream layout"

Rich - I was lucky enough to see your old layout in operation which is why I am so anxious to see your new one.  You did a fabulous job on the old one.  How far along are you?  The suspense is killing us.

Hi Art,
Thank you for the kind words.. they mean even more coming from a modeler of your skill.

Right now I am still in the room prep / planning stage. Taking a page from your book I want to make the room as comfortable and welcoming as possible.

I have also been working on a list of wants and desires for the new pike.

I have a vision in my head and part of it on paper.. but I'm in no hurry.. I want to do it right..

Odd you introduced this topic Brian.  Did you see me in the basement last evening with my tape measure?

I am contemplating "opening up" a sharp curve that has bugged me since shortly after completing my last expansion several years ago.  I'm kind of in my preliminary engineering phase right now.

That said, the "Missus" and I have been kicking around the notion of downsizing so; I'm not completely certain I want to put any more effort into this layout when it may going away in the next year or two.

Curt
