Afternoon my tinplate friends:

I recently won an auction on the Ricardo (Swiss) site, as I was after a Buco 301 electric loco and a rather special Buco 2 axle passenger car that had a half decent price on them. There were two other 2 axle cars came with them, and I don't know what one of them is.

One is obviously an early Marklin passenger car, as it is clearly stamped as such, and has the normal Marklin couplers, but the other freight/caboose car has nothing on it to identify its origin. It is also very narrow and almost matches the axle width, and looks very "toy like". It has a bent "hook" that fits into a small hole on the opposing coupler, and the coupler bar moves in and out from the chassis.....once again very "toy like".

Can someone help me out, as I don't intend to keep the Marklin or this other "anonymous" car, and will probably end up listing them on the Evilbay.

Peter.....Buco Australia.

Thank you again Uberstationmeister for the additional information, and the reference link.

I opened it and read the Distler history with some interest.....and low and behold...there was a picture of my little "baggage car" in an advertisement for one of the original clockwork 4-4-2 steam loco train sets.

I have a friend in Switzerland (Tinplate Friends of Bern) and I will see if he knows more. Thank you again for finding this information.
