Who will be the first to produce Pullman-Standard Double Door 86' Hi-Cube Box Cars? Lionel, MTH, AtlasO?

I think it will be Lionel first and maybe Atlas second. It seems their auto racks are a hot item. I know I bought all of them. That would be  a good followup to them.......Paul

I'm hopeful that the positive reception of the Lionel Autoracks will encourage them to produce more large prototypes like this. 

These deliver a big WOW-factor in an o-gauge layout.  Some 53ft intermodal stuff produced 1:48 also would.

Considering there current factory problems it is highly unlikely Atlas would pursue such a project in the foreseeable future. Lionel or MTH most likely down the road.

Would MTH make a full length version of the Auto Parts box car or will they size it to match the existing Auto Carriers?

Lionel would have to make a full length 86' auto parts Boxcar model to match the 89' auto carriers.

What I would like to get first is a Detroit and Toledo Shore Line 86' Auto Parts Box car with four pairs of doors.

These were built by Pullman-Standard.

I'd have to agree with the contention that Lionel would be most likely at this point to produce such a honking huge boxcar.

I remember watching them years ago (especially the DT&I ones) moving into and out of the NPBL Berkley Yard in Norfolk, VA during family vacations. I might even shoot for a couple if 'Big L' made them.

Lionel if it could be produced, They have taken the lead on american new prototypes and thinking scale,e.g. the scale auto carriers are amazing. I am very happy to get the Detroit set and add ons, very impressive train. Yep Lionel by a long shot and I be right up there ordering a few or a bunch if they are really good.

I was able to snag a Lykens Valley 86-foot Excess Height boxcar kit. I'm going to have to clean up some parts before I build it.

Would love to see Atlas make one. I've seen photos of several versions of the car and with flexible tooling, a manufacturer could make all of the variations.
