I have had my WIFI unit hooked up for 24 hours and overall I am very pleased with the results. FYI,  I am using an old I-Phone 5S I retired after Christmas.

I have found the quillable whistle much easier to use now that this is available. The I-phone WIFI combination is much better than the old thumb wheel for speed control.  WIFI screens are better and quicker to access the features than the remote. I really like the PFA feature letting you know what stage your announcements are at as you use them.

The things I would like to see addressed;

1)The lack of track control under the new release.  This was a basic DCS feature and is necessary to use the variable input/output if you are running, conventional, Proto I or if you have more than two tracks. I have all of my tracks on Variable and my son's ceiling layout is set up that way due to all the traditional trains he runs with his DCS remote. This means that we will have to turn on and off the power with the remote until the enhanced version shows up.
2) There are only 98 slots for engines on the WIFI App. Some of us have already resorted to two remotes since some of us have an MTH engine obsession and have more than 100 MTH locomotives. So will we need to address how to run multiple engines with the same numbers--will a future enhancement allow the ability to add more than 100 locomotives?

3)I would like to see Acceleration and Deceleration rates  allow for a more gradual change in speed. Lionel's Legacy controls, when setting the momentum at High allows for a very gradual change in speed. I would like to see this in the DCS system as well.

Anyone else want these or other changes?

I think as long as this is on the list for the enhanced then it works for me.

Scott,

I've had this conversation with MTH. The limiting factor is in the engine itself, not in DCS. While I wouldn't say it will never happen, recognize that it would be very difficult to do it.

Further, if it could be done in the app but could not be made backward compatible with the remote, that could also cause complications.

Again, I wouldn't rule it out, however, it would be a non-trivial exercise.

Let's face it folks, MTH did a pretty darn good job with the app.  There is always room for features and improvements but what is out now seems to be pretty cool. We all know that the fixes, features and improvements are coming.

I would like to thank the Beta testers and all the folks who worked on the app.  I think you guys did a pretty good job!

I agree with #3.

Also on my Galaxy android when moving the sound sliders the screen scrolls. I have to tap on the volume I want.

All in all I'm very happy with the way things operate. Great idea using the MTH wireless mode also.

I will definitely be in line for the advanced update....

Bruce....

I would like to see the following:

1) Ability to clone or transfer the engines added using the app from 1 device to another device(s).

2) Add soft keys added for pantograph sand for trolley / street cars.

3)  Ability to record operating session to the IOS device.

I am very happy on how things are working on the app right.   It is very easy to use.

I've had my WIFI and app for a couple of days now.  I concur, the developers did a nice job with this.  I never buy a 1.0 version of anything, until this.  I had no expectation of perfection but I am still very happy.

Initially, what I would like to see is a Speed Limit in the free app.  Let us set one or hard code it to something like 50 SMPH but the default 120 SMPH is only something Gomez would have appreciated.

I too would like the ability to clone from one remote device to another.  Not just engines but their settings.

Hardware:  I would like a WIU that could do WIFI on both 2.4 GHZ and 5 GHZ bands.  In my situation, the 2.4 GHZ band has enough interference on it at times to cause issues with communication.  I've moved most of my devices over to 5 GHZ and have no issues there.  In the near future, I plan to hard wire my WIU to my LAN and use a 5 GHZ device to control things.

Nice Job MTH!

Tony
