Hope someone can shed some light on this issue.  I've got the wifi standard app and tiu equipment.  In the app there is a center icon with a buch of squares that I assume to be options. While running the RK PS3 engines and two of my RK PS2 engines, the squares will bring up addtional sounds, the chronometer, trip odometer etc.  However, I got a gently used RK PS2 F3 engine that is exactly like the other 2 but nothing shows on the screen when I press the selection. The main screen and the config (gears) screen seems to work fine. I thought the battery might be low, so I charged it, no difference.

Any ideas why this engine doesn't show those options?

A capture of the app's screen would go a long ways towards accurately illustrating the problem.

Regardless, I surmise that what you're seeing is that the app doesn't see any of the engine's soft keys. This could be because the engine was loaded with a sound file that did not contain any soft keys or because when the engine was added to the app DCS signal strength was very low and no soft keys were recognized by the app.

In the latter instance, when this happens during an add to a DCS Remote, a default set of all MTC soft kets are added, none of which actually do anything. In the case of the app, it's possible that the default is that no soft keys are added. If so, this is a more accurate scenario than the one that occurs when adding to the remote.

Thanks Joe, it's a B&O F3, 30-4113E-1 that doesn't show up.  FWIW, I also have a Texas Special, 30-4110E-1 that shows the extra sounds etc just fine.

For Barry, the track is small 42" x 66" and I've got a 10 strength. I've done both types of engine resets within the wifi app and still no "soft keys" options are displayed.  I will investigate the sound file and see what I can find. I purchased you ebook last year,  and will re-read it.  Lots of good info, and I know you're extremly helpful, thanks a bunch

Well, broke some new ground today.  Ran the DCS loader and uploaded the sound file from the engine. Then I pushed the file back to the engine, no change.  After researching MTH, found an B&O E-8 passenger 3v file for PS2.  Downloaded and installed that one and lo and behold got the engine soft keys displayed on the app.  Then, just for fun, I re-loaded the original sound file, and still have the soft keys visible.  Not sure why the first re-send didn't work, but I'm satisfied that there's nothing wrong and it works like the other F3s.   Now I'm ready for the premium version in Feb

Did you ensure that the new soft keys actually worked, both b initially loading the new sound file and also after reloading the old sound file after the new one?

It takes a delete and add of the engine to change the sound file soft keys in a particular remote, however, I'm not entirely certain if the sound file soft keys are handled by the app the same way as they are by the remote.

Hi Barry, yes I did.  In betwewn loading the files, I shut everything down, power wise, then restarted up the tiu, and wifi. They worked when I had the E-8 sound file loaded and when I re-loaded the original sound file.  I don't have the remote, only the wifi.  Thought about getting one, but I REALLY like the app, mostly because I work in the software industry.

Thank you for your help, perhaps someone else might benefit from this knowledge.
