Wifi explorer engines start when power is applied

Additional info using a z750 transformer to power the dcs wifi explorer. Does ac power cause the trains to power on automatically?

yes if your not using a tiu the watch dog signal will be missing and engine will startup in conventional mode!

Ok thanks once the light turns purple it discovers the train but then I have to refresh it to turn it off as the button defaults to turn on train in my app

So the wifi explorer doesn't put out a watchdog signal? I thought it doesnt put out track power until u search for a engine?

Wifi explorer supplies power to track when app connects with explorer,engines are off. (lighted cars light up) engine start is controlled by start up,shut down emblem in the app.    

So mines defective then because it is always supplying power even when just plugged in.

if you haven't,do multiple resets, unplug unit for short time. uninstall and then reinstall app. could be glitch between app and unit. 

Ok I will try, my issue was I blew a fuse on a derailment. I was using a z1000 power which has a trip rate of 6 amps which the WiFi has a 5 amp fuse. I would suggest everyone use a z750 with the WiFi explorer as it has a 4 amp trip and will trip before your WiFi explorer. So I replaced the fuse but am worried that damage occurred before the fuse blew.

Possible.  If engines continue to start up when power applied, probably so. G

Is that warranty issue? I just bought the wifi explorer last month I would hope a derailment should'nt break it.

That's exactly what happened with mine JAMOS. I had the same setup: Z1000 transformer - derailment - fuse blown - Ouch! MTH was nice enough to replace ... hope they will do the same for you as they sell the unit without power supply. Good Luck!
