I have more UCS sections than I need at the moment, so I’m adding them in wherever a future, additional accessory could fit.  There are several spots where I’ve placed insulated sections to drive semaphores, crossings, or the watch tower etc.  Just curious if the UCS piece will still uncouple/unload normally when placed before or after an insulated section.

I’m using standard Lionel (Menards actually) tin 3 rail track. I could not find anything definitive in a forum search, so thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks BMORAN4...

I went a little over the top playing with a new soldering iron and now have track power about every four sections throughout the whole layout!

I’m planning on using accy power on the UCS track.  Can I assume the fixed 14 volt post on my KW is adequate for this purpose?

Also as long as I’m cleaning & testing all the UCS functions, any idea if acetone harms the vintage plastic (Bakelite?)  they’re not too dirty, just look a little dingy next to shiny new track...So far green scotchbrite doing a fine job, but some pieces have dark oil stains.

@FlyPlanes-PlayTrains, The Power and Ground leads I mentioned above and suggested for track feeders were initially intended to act as a "reverse lock-on" to take track power to the two button controller. So the controller wires that would go to those leads can instead go to a common ground fixed voltage of 14V, but I find a variable voltage allowing to fine tune for given operations much more satisfactory.

As for bakelite/plastic clean up, I would use a shallow pan filled with warm water and dish soap. Much more benign than acetone. You want to avoid using abrasives on track. I would reserve green Scotchbrite for the absolute worse case. You will be surprised what CRC 2-26 and Goo Gone can do to cleaning rails.
