I don't believe so...I tried to retrack my layout with Fastrak. After spending nearly $500 did I realize that you really can't fit more than one loop on the table top of a 4 foot wide table.
I know the 0-31 will not fit in an 0-36.
An O31 Fastrack loop will definitely NOT fit inside an O36 Fastrack loop.
But, an O31 MTH Realtrax Loop will fit inside of an O36 Fastrack loop!
And, it works better when you put a 1 3/8" straight between the O36 Fastrack curves.
I have a small layout with an MTH Realtrax O31 circle inside an O36 Fastrack loop with a 1 3/8" spacer. Traditional size trains run well. Track spacing is 5" center rail to center rail. It looks better than using a tubular loop inside, but it would be even nicer if Realtrax and Fastrack used the same grey color in their ballast!

I was thinking of a similar question regarding my upcoming Christmas tree set up: Will a circle of 027 tubular fit inside a circle of 036 Fasttrack? I am assuming it will, but haven't tried it. Thanks

Thank you, Ed!
40" outside diameter including the roadbed.
O-31 Fastrack is 35", just one inch shy of the center rail diameter of the O-36. If Lionel had gone with O-28.28 Fastrack, matching tubular "O", it would be a fit. A close one for sure, but a fit.
Tom,
As Rob points out Lionel definitely stepped on it with this mistake, I use the MTH 031 RealTrax as my inner loop because the FT will not fit. There have been several other threads on this subject, you can probably reference them. IMO this was one big engineering mistake by Lionel! It probably cost Lionel Millions in track sales.

Good to know about MTH Real Trax fitting, I never considered that. Looks like it will either be o tubular / 27 or real trax then
