I would like to use a 153 IR on a Fastrack loop in which all of the trains will be going the same direction all the time. (Inner loops will have trains going in opposite directions for variety).  Since I would like the gates to go down in more proto-typical fashion, I would like to use the 153IR.  Can it be hooked up to the Fastrack gates referenced above?  Dick

There is no need to use the 153IR. The gates come with tow 5" insulated/isolated sections. Just make a run of one or two 10" additional insulated sections before and after the gates. That way the train trips the gates a few second prior to making the crossing, and raise a little after the end. I did this on mine and works great. I had to create a curved isolated section (break in the rail) prior to my crossing to get the effect.
