I have a Williams BL-2 that I would like to use as an excursion locomotive. I'm using an MTH E8b dummy as a booster. I have also a set of 8 MTH Railking 60 ft streamlined cars. My question; will the BL-2 pull the MTH E8b and streamlined cars on it's own?

Probably!
I would think without even breathing heavy. You could probably tie the last car to a tree stump and it would pull that out too.
I have a Williams Baldwin RF-16 that will pull 2 non-powered RF-16 (A & B) units and 6 Lionel aluminum passenger cars. There is quite a bit of current draw due to all the incandescent bulbs in the passenger cars, but the one powered engine will pull the consist. Give your BL-2 a try pulling what you have and see what happens.

Williams BL-2 -- GP-9.
They pull.
Well I can say for a fact that it will easily pull twelve 18" MTH Premier passenger cars, or 30 MTH Premier coal cars, or 45 Weaver PS-1 40' box cars. Done them all. It's a great little locomotive.

You know what they say about EMD product...Every Model Delivers ! Even little ones !
I have a BL-2 and it's easily pulled as many as 8 cars on my compact 6x11 layout. Keep in mind almost all of my rolling stock are operating cars which tend to be quite a bit heavier than your typical box car. It's a surprisingly strong engine!
