Big Williams fan here. I have pulled 32 scale milk cars with a single Williams FM Trainmaster. Didn’t break a sweat.

They pull stumps and are so smooth!
Williams engines just glide!
Were they both powered or a powered/non-powered pair?
I've had a single Williams Dash-9 pull 51 ore cars, and an NW2 pulling a 21-car mixed freight consist. Didn't appear to even notice the load.

With no grades, this isn't much of a challenge. I've pulled 115 cars with two Lionel Legacy U28 U-boats, including 2+% grades.
I remember being very impressed with the pulling power of all of the Williams locomotives that I've owned. What are the dimensions of your layout?
there was a lot of williams at the train show i went to including 2 large diesels for less than 200 dollars each
williams will probably make up a bulk of my locomotive roster especially the FP45s, and SD45s as that train show also taught me that legacy is way over my smooth brain and lionchief and conventional is the best way for me to go.
not only do williams pull like mules they are so reliable and robust just like old school lionel stuff.
