A while ago, I was at a train show talking with someone who had a 50s/60s Route 66 themed layout. As appropriate for the era, he also had a Wolfman Jack radio station scene on it with old broadcast recordings that played in the background.

Attached is a video of the Midwest Money layout in St. Louis which has a nod to Wolfman Jack in the most recent video!

Does Wolfman Jack make a cameo on your layout?

Let’s see!

I used to listen to his show when I was stationed at NAS Lemoore (40 miles south of Fresno, CA) and liked it. I remember that he would sometimes randomly call someone and one time he called, a woman answered and he said "This is the Wolfman, do you like me?", her answer: "NO!" and an immediate hang-up. He was actually speechless for a couple of seconds! The first time that I ever heard dead air on his show!

EDIT: I have the MTH radio station building, maybe a sound source with one of his radio show CDs on it and a speaker playing at a low level inside the studio. That or the corner record store.

I love it!

Wolfman Jack hosted “The Midnight Special”, a favorite weekly TV show of mine from my youth that featured live broadcasts of top Rock bands of the day.

Wolfman Jack was quite the character, he got started as a DJ of one of many high powered Mexican radio stations that broadcasted rock music across the border and deep into America.
