I have began work on a short animated film for a class at school. My Prof wanted me to come up with a animated short involving two characters interacting with each other. So being the toy train fan that I am. I decided on doing a animated short about two locomotives trying to climb up a mountain during a thunderstorm. I have not finalized if I will draw them in Photoshop and animate them in the animation program I am using. Or perhaps I can I will try to use toy trains and do a stop motion style animation. Still not sure but I will post more when I can.

Just a quick update 02/23/2015-Had my weekly meeting with my Prof about my portfolio class he likes my animation just have to make some minor changes to the ending. Though he said I can begin production of the animated short. I will post some sketches later tonight and tomorrow.

Another quick update 03/8/2015 I have finished three of the scenes backgrounds might make some changes if needed. I have also made the locomotives. The  wheels will be animated along with puffing smoke. However, I chose to leave out animating the drive rods for now I may add them later on. I have also gotten a friend who will be doing the voice over for the animation.

Here are the two locomotives so far.

A quick update 03/28/2015 I have gotten a friend to do the voice over work and I have been working on some of the backgrounds for the animation. I have just finished making the station in Photo-Shop may make some slight changes not sure yet.

I will post an update later next week after I have my weekly meeting with my prof. I will share it when it's finished wont be for a while

Animation is so cool!  I've watched Akira in frame by frame.

Why not use both drawn, and stop motion perspectives for your story?

Such as, drawn expressions of individual exasperation, then a cut to stop motions on the less personal points during the climb.

It can be fun used to separate the moods/ scenes

What type of class? Carrier training, personal, both?

That's an idea use both animation styles. The class is Electronic Media Portfolio  basically gathering all my different projects and showing them to a committee of Profs and they decided if I graduate my  Electronic Media Major. Electronic Media is basically filming, editing, animation stuff like that. Last spring I had to create a graphic novel for a book publishing class I took.
