I ripped up my entire UPS section of my layout because I wanted to improve on my Superstreets. Here's a short video of the streets I just put down.

Cool! I keep thinking I need to find a way to do a RR crossing like you have but I can't figure out how to fit it in.
That is neat!
I wondered if you can run/stop the vehicles at the crossing while a train goes through in conventional mode - or would that take an insulated Street section thus creating a block?

Dale H is working on a reed-switch/latch relay and magnet type system that ought to wor to control road blocks so you could do this. I hope it does work.
Command controlled vehicles would work well in that situation. Unfortunately, there are few command controlled street vehicles on the market. I've only found two that Lionel made for SS, and they're both modern type vehicles.
Nice work Spence! Is that Package Truck a repainted vehicle or complete custom job?

They also suffer from the electrical pickup issues discussed in numerous threads. The TMCC vans have higher-quality level-action center pickups than other K-Line-by-Lionel 'Streets vehciles, which helps some. But Lionel's TMCC vans are a great idea that disappoints a bit -- TMCC works a lot better in a locomotives where it gets a much more constant flow of power and control signal from the track: locomotives have more wheels, heavier duty center pickups (and often more than two), and most important a lot of weight pushing everything firmly on the track to establish a good solid contact. I also noticed TMCC vehicles run somewhat better in all regards on track (Atlas in this case) than 'Streets road - I imagine that track itself rather than 'Streets road (very thin center rail in particular, poor connections between section compared to the best track) does a better job of transmitting a smooth signal and power.
