The simple answer is yes. That have a lot going for them with good leadership, several events all over the USA annually, and hold a very good annual convention.
Over the past several years, they have offered many outstanding products. The individual responsible for many of these products passed away last year and I am sure they are going through a transition for their new offerings.
Best Club publications!
Jon
There is a TON of stuff available for sale from the membership. They publish a newsletter/catalog of things being offered. It comes in the mail, and members can access it online. The dues aren't super-exensive. I think it's worth being a member
Great club, some of the best club cars, the best club publications and a group of people at the head who know how to run and grow the club.
What is not to like.
hello guys and gals............
I have thought of joining the LCCA but how does that compare to LOTS ? Which is a best lionel club to join ?

What is right for me may not be right for you.
I have belonged to the TCA, TTOS, and LCCA over the years.
Currently I only belong to the TCA. Nuff said.

I would look at the posts each make on this form.
one just posted 23 hours ago and the other has not posted since July.
.......no..........btw ...this thread belongs on the lcca topic channel, along with the post about lou whats his name.i would hope the moderaters would take notice and move these to the right place.....jim
WOW! A little disrepectful is an understatement regarding one of the above posts.
I've been a member of the LCCA for a couple of years now. I've never been to a convention, and never bought any of their offerings. I like the newsletter/magazine, and get the Lionel catalogs in the mail, which is more important to me now that I don't have a LHS. My opinion is they are working very hard to keep the hobby alive. Buying isn't my main focus in the hobby, but know it is for many. They seem to have a good balance between conventions, products, and, historical information, which they bring together pretty well in their publications.
I belonged to the LRRC where I was perfectly content to remain. Looks like they have now transferred me to the LCCA for more money per year. I haven't really seen any LCCA offerings that appealed to me and I won't be going to any conventions. I have not yet been to their website as a member to see what else is offered, will have go and look around and decide from there. I do think they try pretty hard to promote the hobby which is good for us all. That may be worth some value to justify the extra expense?
Oh, I Forgot, I to belonged to LRRC, TCA, ATLAS O, LCCA...The Price of membership is very Reasonable, REALLY REASONABLE, Considering all the work From the President, down the list do FOR US. There is Tons of work preparing the Lion Roars, the Collector Cars, The monumental Task of Keeping us informed about what's going on in Our Hobby.
The cost of membership is Very Reasonable for What we receive in information and the Many Friends We make, and the Home Layouts We See, it's really a modest price for All We Get.....THANK YOU LCCA!!!!
Joined the LRRC sometime in the early `80's and dropped out within 2 years: they really offered little in terms of regular publications or hobby info.
Joined the TCA in 1984 and left in 2014: good offerings, but seem to be suffering from any long term financial planning and think continuous dues increases will solve all their problems.
Joined LCCA in 1982 and am still a member: good offerings, great publications and lots of events. Modest dues.

LCCA member and -- frankly -- I rarely buy any of the club offerings. But for me it's a great organization with good folks, informative publications, and of course the meetings/conventions.
I am an LCCA member and I believe it is a good value. As stated previously, the publications are excellent. In addition to the annual convention, they due a number of special events across the country to recruit new members and give current members an opportunity to participate in the club and meet other members.

I belong to the LCCA, LOTS and TCA. Each of them has somewhat different things to offer that I have found worthwhile. It all comes down to the individual and how the individual wants to pursue this hobby.
For me, the LCCA occasionally has offerings I want, and the magazine is OK. This club is also promoting this hobby far more vigorously than the others, and that earns both my respect and support.
I joined the TCA initially to get the METCA mint cars, but I found the TCA Quarterly to be of great interest, as I do enjoy learning about the long history of our hobby and other aspects of it that are outside of my main interests. Then I went to York... 'Nuff said.
I joined LOTS because LOTS has been offering a lot of really nice scale items, and their magazine is OK, as well.
And having met a lot of people in each organization, I can say that I am proud to be in such wonderful company.

Yes.

The TCA is a national organization with local chapters and divisions.
The national organization offers a few pieces each year. Some of the chapters/divisions offer items from time to time.
Twice a year the Eastern Division of the TCA hosts one of the largest Train shows in the country in York Pennsylvania. Folks are allowed to attend once as a guest. After that, attendees must belong to the TCA in order to attend. They do keep track.
I doubt many people join the TCA to purchase their custom made offerings. There are people who belong to the TCA solely to attend the York show.
I often make the York show, but I think I would belong even if I stopped attending.
I enjoy the TCA and LCCA. I really enjoy the publications of both. I have been to York, but not in the last decade or so. I also enjoy the TCA museum. Being located 30 minutes or so from Lionel's new facility the LCCA gives me the added bonus of the open house they have held there the last few years for the LCCA. Throw in the free catalogs and it is more than worth it as I have no decent train shop within a few hour drive.
the LCCA is one of the best organizations you can belong to. a great group of dedicated people running the show. they are always doing something good for the community. they held a "Make a wish" event at for club for a local child recently. I just received my copy of "the Exchange Track" their magazine which had hundreds and hundreds of items for sale and listings of items wanted by members. very worthwhile org. Sometimes you don't look for what an org can do for me, look at what they do for for the community and want to be part of it.
and for the comment by mixerdude, do your home work and go to that LCCA channel as you call it and at least get Lou Caponi's name correct. I agree, no respect for one of the GREAT people in this hobby.
JohnS,
I hope that Al wasn't offended by my making fun of the way he spelled Lou Caponi's name wrong. Each of us that have been around a while and remember that Lou always used capital letters. I did remind him, LOU CAPONI. Yes, I'm the one.
Andrew87,
If you'll flip over to the 'Club News Forum' you will find more LCCA information.
