I have been thinking since Lionel did such a nice job on the Zepher how about a scale Budd car with a die cast shell. "Yes I know third rail did one"

I had the same idea recently! I'm sure they would be really cool with Legacy control/sounds. Scale sized, not postwar reproductions. The die-cast I didn't think of though. Nice touch!
If it is an RDC-3, (not done by 3rd Rail), and if it is also available conventional.
No, not really, I don't care much for Budd cars. I would rather see some older style subway cars made that come loaded with Legacy.
Actually, no.
What I would like to see is a 1:48, properly modeled car, with correct but basic
detailing and trucks, with NON-Legacy Lionel CC, at a price that makes sense.
I do not own any Budd cars (except the cute RMT-Marx version, just for grins) because they are always wrong, or over-priced, or both. The Legacy direction would be the wrong one to get my business.
LionChief Plus? Now that, if accurate (new tooling), would make me interested.
Another no vote. My Williams RDC with older ERR Cruise lite and LED directional lighting is smooth as silk. My 3 Rail RDC without Cruise is also a smooth runner. Not sure what Legacy would add other than a big price tag.

I have a 3rd Rail RDC with TMCC. It runs great and I don't think that Legacy would add anything but extra expense.

I won't be buying one, but I wish you well convincing Lionel they will sell enough to justify tooling for it.
It might be nice, but seeing they never even did one in TMCC, I'm thinking they are not interested in doing new tooling for Budd cars.

I too love the Zephyr, but I would not be interested in buying a scale Budd car with Legacy.

Why yes I would. If you are handling orders on behalf of Lionel, I will take one each in Rock Island and C&NW.
I thought that the original 3rd Rail was plated brass, and expensive. Also very accurate. As I understand it, a plastic one is in the works, and you can add your own legacy for less, probably. These things cannot go around O-27.

I have a 3rd Rail nickle plated brass model I've just completed restoring. It has original TMCC and Railsounds but you can not add your own Legacy to it as Lionel does not make Legacy available to the general public in a conversion kit. Your correct it it can't negotiate anything close to 0-27. Flip that around to 0-72 or more. This is 0-84 in the photo.
I could use some more RDC's RDG, B&O, ATSF...
I like my MTH Railking B&M Budds. Not scale, but they are well done and negotiate my O54 curves nicely and run smooth with DCS.

I like them too. MTH has an MBTA set coming in the new catalog. I think I'll be pulling the trigger on that set.
I would buy it if it was Legacy. I still have several RDC-1 and RDC-2 by 3rd rail. Scott has done the RDC 1 and RDC 2. The early run brass plated models are the good looking ones.
