Until OGR review on Bachman's 2-6-2T came out, I wasn't aware that any of these engines were available. While it's an itch I dare not scratch, the subject of WWI railways has always interested me. Anyway, there's a good book on the subject for anyone who is interested: Richard Dunn, Narrow Gauge to No Man's Land, U.S. Army 60cm Gauge Railways of the First World War in France. (Los Altos: Benchmark, 1990). It's still available, a bit pricey, but has lots of pictures.

Whilst the Model is correct to prototype, the gauge is not. WWI Trench or Field locos ( Allied) were French Decauville 600mm gauge;
Or 1ft 11.625"....many were regauged to 2 ft. For Commonwealth or US plantation or mine railways inthe1920s.
So On2 would be a more correct rendition ofthe locomotive...I don't know if any were rebuilt ( widened) to 2ft6in ( On30)?
A good but involved rebuilding project...new frame?

The Bachmann 2-6-2T is rather gorgeous, isn’t it?
It should be noted that White River Productions continues to release the On30 Annual. Their 2020 edition marks 15 years of continued publication. On30 remains the perfect scale to model in O. There's plenty of HO and S scale equipment (locomotives and cars) that can be used, thus saving $$$ in these difficult hard times, not to forget Menards new Cripple Creek structures that come with a Nice Price. Their enginehouse is loosely based on legendary HO scale modeler John Allen's model he scratchbuilt for his now famous Gorre & Daphetid!
Jim, I have an itch to start planning a compact On30 layout and the Bachmann 2-6-2T may very well find a place on the locomotive roster. I'm considering a freelanced narrow gauge line in Pennsylvania with all the splender that autumn scenery can provide.
