After 10 years of hunting and countless attempts to buy / build it, the bridge is mine and awaiting installation.  When you know how many bridge vendors I've talked to, that is true York magic.

Rich and his team can, indeed, perform magic. And the results last.

Frank,

They have performed magic.  You saw me that day with the bridge!  I didn't know I could grin that big!

George

I'd love to see the bridge in situ once you have it on your layout, with you standing next to it with the same happy grin. I am sure we all would . Have any such photos yet?

Not yet, Frank, but I am working diligently towards that day.  Tonight my friend is transporting the bridge to the house.  We are taking downstairs.  It will be within 20 feet of its final location.  We are doing some of the prep work to install it.

I estimate it will be another week or so!

So, what are your "York Magic" stories?  Please share!

Andy,

Good for you.....couldn't happen to a nicer guy!

I've picked up a few nice brass freight cars (I'm a 2 railer) and a couple of the late Al Staufer's "Power" books (had him sign a copy of "Pennsy Power III"), and talked with the late Ed Duddy (genuinely nice man) a couple of times. More memories than stuff for me.

Relax.Take your time. Let yourself have even more fun as you get creative.

I am convinced there are many facets of enjoyment to our hobby, not the least of which may be:

  • there's the acquisition of certain items, with the attendant adventure getting there;
  • there is the pleasure of ownership of that treasure;
  • then, there is the fun and adventure of crafting those various items into place on our layouts.

In fact, sometimes, I am not sure if there isn't a bit of disappointment when the play-work is done. It's enjoyable to have it all in place, but then the creative adventure has been completed/ended. Maybe, that is why our layouts are "never done." We crave that creative experience and need more. At least, I do.

FrankM.

P.S. And part of that "York Magic" may be discovering that there are so many other like-minded fellows along on the same journey. Happiness likes company, I say.
