As always, it was a great time to catch up with old friends and buy some trains.    I was happy with the displays MTH and Lionel had at the show.  I was very happy with the news MTH gave up regarding upcoming replacement boards and upgrade kit information at the DCS Users meeting on Wednesday night.    Barry will be posting on this soon.  The weather was decent and Fridays was fun for all.  I met a large number of newer forum members and got a chance to put a face to the name.  The OGR folks were great and I  enjoyed conversing with all of them.  The new OGR ad man Alan Arnold was at his first York and enjoyed himself.  I only had one photo this time and it is with Mike and Mike.  Other members have covered York events well.

Marty, you are a grizzled veteran. This had to be about #43 for me. I guess when you go to that many, you feel that it's a pretty great thing. So much for those who are the nattering nabobs of negativity.

As always, the time I spent with you at York was great. I really have now carved out a bunch of time as "Marty time".

Thank you for the kind words everyone.  It was one year ago while at York that I got the call from my doctor stating test results showed prostate cancer and things did not look good.  As I drove out of the fairgrounds that day and looked at the York Fair sign, I thought that would be the end of the run.  I thank everyone for the calls and support they gave me.    I hope I can make many more York shows.

Thank you all,

Marty,

You're truly a great person and I'm lucky to be a close friend with you. I know I will see you at many many many more York shows. There's a lot of great times ahead of us

my pal.

Thanks,

Alex

It was great going to my 56th straight York. I can't believe it has been that many but there are many more to come.

It is always great to see all my train friends, I spend more time talking then I do shopping anymore. But I would not have it any other way.

Btw, great picture Marty, you look nice and healthy now and I hope it stays that way.

This was my first trip, and I got to meet and spend some time with people that I knew only from the forum. My wife and I had a fantastic time. It was great to spend time with you and Dotty, Marty, and I'm so glad you are feeling well. It was a great pleasure to meet both you and Dotty; one day the Mrs. and I hope to meet Ralph!

Best regards,

Bruce (and Chris)

York number 27 for Jean & me makes us relative newbies, but it was surely one of our best.  It was great to see you, Dottie and everyone else, as always.  My hotel reservation for April is already made.

I'm especially happy about the successful outcome of your bout with prostate cancer and am looking forward to seeing you and everyone else in April.  You are an inspiration to us all, as a model railroader and as a man.

I see more and more a professional respect and camaraderie between the Lionel and MTH folks. It's refreshing.

As always, Marty and I enjoyed a great time with wonderful people this TCA/York meet. This one was all the more special due to Marty's illness last year. The last 12 months has awakened a new appreciation for life, love, friends and, of course, all things train related. Here is a picture of the Fall '13 Isaac's crowd: Jim Barrett, Barry Broskowitz, Carl Chancey, Me (Dotty P), Marty Fitzhenry, Captain John (Xenides), Gerry Morlitz, Cora Broskowitz and Alan Arnold (Leaving Tracks/The Ad Man). As for Spring 2014, we have our room reserved and on Friday I pre-registered for the TCA meet. Thank you all for your emails, phone calls, moral support, and prayers this past year. See you in the spring!

100% spot-on!  Three good men, tried and true, in that photo that leads this thread!  I'm proud to know all three.

Marty,

Great to see you and Dottie at another York. Think this was # 45 for me-I have to have a recount! Nice picture with your good buddies. I tried to load our picture from Trainstock, each wearing their respective football team shirt.

What was nice on returning home was to see my NY JETS BEAT your NE PATRIOTS! A much gratifying victory for us since it's been a long time doing that since we came to your house and beat you guys in the PLAYOFFS a few years ago!

Should I send you some crow now and bring it to April's York?

Regardless, York equals friendships for a lifetime.

"FLY, EAGLES, FLLLLL...."  Oh, forget it.

Marty it was great to see you and Dotty and everyone else all over the Fairgrounds.  Had nice chats with Mike & Mike and I wish I could chat with everyone, it's so much fun talking trains!

It was great to meet Alan too. (I hope he got a chance to check out the K-Line 21" passenger cars I told him about.)

York #35 for me was one of the best of all the great ones I can remember.

Just got home late yesterday and spent all day (until around 6P.M. out time) laying around the house trying to "recharge"....

I am going to post a separate thread about my experiences at York tomorrow but I wanted to say here on Marty's thread that I had the time of my life!!  Marty...you are like a brother....  I don't think I have ever met a person that gives so much of himself to others like you do.  I am so honored to know you my friend....you helped make my first York a success and I will always remember that!!

Alan

Yes, I agree with all the above, It was great to see Marty & Dotty again & the red corvette too! And yes he does give of himself alot. I thank you for the part & the advise on how the fix my rk engine my friend. We have our hotel lined up for the spring also as this will be # 28 for me. See you then! Cant wait, now where's that count down clock? Gordon

Thanks guys.

Alan, you should be tired.  I have never seen a man cover as much ground as you did.  Everyone was glad to meet you and Lakeeta.  You made a big hit with my friends.  When I think of trains, I think OGR.  When I think of York week, I think OGR with the great team they bring to the show.  Alan, you have joined the greatest team in the hobby.  Hopefully we can do it all again in April.

Marty
