As we work our way out of the most recent recession hole, Pennsylvania has been able to maintain consistant, though frugal budgets, that are at least close to being balanced.  There are issues, it is believed the State employee pension fund is underfunded for one, some of the local school subsides have been cut, and higher education assistance has seen some hits.  Every tax dollar counts, local and county budgets are also lean and mean.  I would think we have a-ways to go before the economy is humming again, but it's good to know that here in Pennsylvania we are surviving and moving on.  IMO.  12 million people working together to get it done.  Thank you for your support.   Mike

So would Saturday be a complete wash for me to come back up with the grandson (6 yo) on Saturday?  I don't want to take him out of school for York so I did think of Friday for me and Saturday for him. Or would it be best just to wait until December and take him to the Greenbergs Timonium show?

Since you live just down the road from York and can get there early, I don't think you would find it to be a wash on Saturday.  Things begin to wind down--considerably--shortly after 1 p.m. or so, but you probably don't want to spend too many hours strolling around with your grandson anyhow.

Won't be a total wash, but get there early (did you register him in advance?).

You will note some tables still covered, and I'll suggest you will see at least a few folks packing up before even 12 o clock, but it's probably still worth the short trip.  I forget who the group is to set up in the Black hall this meet, but that is generally impressive.

I'm saying this based solely on the York experience, I've never been to Timonium myself.

This York show will make my 56th straight attendance. Yes I have been critical of some of the decisions that the ED has made but in the end I like the way it is run. I will attend the York show until I am not able. Although I am older then most and buy the more modern era of trains and really enjoy the dealer halls. I also check out the member halls as well. This infighting amogst the collectors and runners to me is a non-issue. I'm having fun and the best place to go to have fun is the York train show. Life is too short to worry wheather somebody is a collector or a runner, the best thing we can do is to support one another.
