Disgusting...
That's horrible, I have an engine coming today via Fed Ex. I'll keep my fingers crossed
Alex
So now we know it is NOT always the manufactures fault they are broke when they arrive.
First of all let me state that I retired from UPS after 30 years. Those packages that there shown throwing are for documents (Paper) so nothing would be damaged even though it's wrong what they were doing. Hopefully she would treat regular boxes a little more safely!!!!!
Wow, what butthole employees, no regard for anything.
Hope USPS dosn't treat my kemtron Wabash 2-6-0 that way, to be delivered this pm

Not really fair to judge the entire shipping industry over the actions of what should be a "former employee".
The drivers that come to our home are polite and professional.
Now I know what happened to the brass engine I shipped via FedEx and the buyer reported it as nearly destroyed.
And to get any kind of damage reimbursement out of FedEx is like trying to pull an elephant out of a quicksand pit.

That's pretty much like I see it, too. There's always going to be at least one bad apple in every barrel, but it's unfair to generalize the actions of one--or even a few--to the entire workforce of any of these agencies.
Our (OGR) FedEx delivery and pickup employees--and this was obviously a pickup--are first-rate, as are our UPS folks. More than just reps for their respective agents, they are also our friends.
WOW!!! No excuse for that.
You have to watch every action, camera everywhere.
Big Brother may or may not be watching, but Someone is

I thought Scott's better half threatened to use the BBQ last time!
I heard a unconfirmed rumour she has got in touch with FPS Russia for Scott's next York trip.

Thats only half the story, its starts when its shipped from china.

Indeed, and it's only going to get progressively worse with all the quadcopters, drones, etc. looking down from overhead and every smart phone equipped with still photo and video capability. The day of Big Brother (not the TV show) is here, and you just have to assume that every time you step outside your home (and perhaps even within) you're going to be watched by someone. Ya gotta love it!
She won't get fired....neither will he.
In fact, they will both be Managers within 8 years.

No cameras or photography at the York Meet. See, there are some advantages to the rules.
This was shown on the CBS evening news last night. FedEx said the driver has been fired.

WOW!!! Good News for everyones packages.
Actually, guys, I make a specific point never to use a link re-label tool, etc. Relabeled links can be/are used to disguise some mildly nasty tricks/fraudulent sites, etc. I'm honest and would not do anything like that but I figure what is good for the goose is good for the gander. Of course, even apparently valid appearing web links can be a fraudulently relabeled link, but posting the actual link is sort of "full disclosure ahead of time" it tells folks where they are being re-directed to - something that makes me much, much more comfortable when I hit a link.
Lee, while I understand your sentiments, in truth that doesn't really accomplish much. Let's compare these two links.

or
The "native" one is truncated, and if you hover over the retitled one, you can see the original link.
Lionel Legacy NYC S-2 Locomotive
I agree with Lee.
The text tells us what the link is about.
I want to see the URL, not some description, which may not be meaningful.
In John's first example, I know right away that it is an EBay listing.
In John's second example, it could be any site.
That written, if OGR Publishing requires us to rename links, I will comply.
If you are so concerned, hover over the text and look at the bar at the bottom. It will show you the URL.
You can't judge FedEx over what is now probably a former employee's actions. I shipped hundreds of packages via UPS, FedEx and USPS and had only 2 damaged shipments with UPS. I ship 90% FedeEx. UPS and FedEx are much easier to file a claim than the USPS for loss or damage.
I agree that UPS and FedEx are much easier to file a claim with. Several years ago, I got a new laptop from my employer at a meeting in DC. I shipped the old one home via FedEx so I wouldn't have to lug it through airport security. When it arrived, the screen was cracked. I got an estimate to repair and the cost to replace, sent both in and FedEx said I could have the cost of the lesser of the two. Pretty simple.
I have found FedEx ground to be less expensive that either USPS and UPS parcel in may cases by as much as 3-5 dollars compared to UPS and USPS parcel. I see more damage from UPS than USPS and the least from FedEx. All of them make mistakes but FedEx always (in my experience) make it right; it is known as the study of service recovery in operations management, which also flows to marketing. None of them will ever attain 100% perfection.
Oh, one more thing, (my personal favorite) it has to make it to UPS/Fedex first.
