Using the LINK TOOL

Try this, someone correct if I have it messed up...

Type the shorter phrase in your post, like "CLICK HERE", select the shorter version of the test so that it is highlighted, (hold left mouse key and slide across the selected text). The "LINK" Icon will now be able to be clicked and then insert the URL Address you want to link to.

Just to clarify - the "link" icon is the chain just to the right of the double quotes. It is grayed out until you type and highlight the phrase you want to use for the link.

Then just paste the URL in the first box of the pop-up that appears. You can ignore all the other options. Then click the "insert" button.

How do you get the Name to work? I tried several times and it wouldn't show up.

Explain "won't show up"?  What doesn't show up?

Jim, I'm not sure what you mean by "Name" won't work.

Can you explain in a bit more detail?

Thanks Rich, I use SnagIt by Techsmith, it's one I've used for years.  You can annotate the snap and then save it for upload.  Mine is several years old as I used to be a Microsoft MVP and get all this stuff for free, but no more.

We use it Snagit at work for years now in the training department. It is a great tool and would not use another!

I think that maybe Jim meant to ask about the "TITLE" field.  I can't make it do anything, either.

(BTW, if you are a Mac user,  Preview App (included with OSX) can do screen captures and annotations as well.)

Windows 7 includes the Snipping Tool which gets screen captures with a pen and highlighter tool.

You can then edit with Paint for the annotation bubbles.

Not as professional or efficient, but it's free.

Well, this was free to me, and since it's a very nice tool, I use it.  It has all sorts of capabilities, even captures video.

Yes, it's a very nice tool. SnagIt is on my list now. Thanks for the info. Trains are sucking up the hobby budget now.
