Hello, All

I just want to get some feedback about my posting Specials on the forum. If the membership wants me to stop I will discontinue offering these specials. I am a Forum Sponsor and you see my adds on the top right of the forum heading. I also am a advertiser in the OGR magazine. I feel I am offering a service to member specials only. I feel Rich Melvin should not have to defend my postings, maybe its the competition complaining? I have talked to many of you and have made a lot of friends through my postings. Lets hear you comments.

Thanks

Pat

Knock a few more bucks off your prices and you can post all you want!

Seriously though, so long as you identify your intent in the title of your thread, I have no problem with postings like that.  It's not like your interrupting other topics with a posted reply saying "Hey, look I'm having a sale!"  THAT would be annoying.  But as far as starting your own thread, fine by me.

Thanks for helping sponsor this Forum, by the way.

Now that you have explained that you are a double sponsor, i.e. OGR Magazine AND the Forum, I see nothing wrong with your postings. As a suggestion, you might want to post on BOTH the 3-Rail Trains Forum and the For Sale or Trade Forum, as you might receive more exposure.

I have purchased from your store, and was VERY satisfied with the service! Regardless of price, when I find something I REALLY want, which you did indeed have, I am more impressed with the service.

Pat, you are a sponsor of this forum. It is because of you and the other sponsors, as well as the good folks at OGR that the forum exists.

I, for one, want to thank you and the other sponsors for your generosity and support of our hobby.

You advertisements certainly are not offensive to me.

I appreciate your taking your time to let us know of new products.

You smoke fluid appears to be pretty good from the results that I have had.

Unfortunately, there are always a few who need to express themselves loudly, and negatively, for whatever reason, whether they have cause or not. More often than not the have no cause, just need to build their egos or what ever. I guess they are the "entitled" few.

We have come to learn that there is not much to do about them but let them bellow until Rich and the others have to do what they must and boot them off.

Keep posting the ads.

Again, thank you for your support of the forum!

Pat,

I think your posts are just fine.  In fact, I consider them a service as its another way to let me know what type of product is out there.  The fact that you offer OGR forum members an additional discount is great!  Having been to your store I am confident in saying that your customer service is at the top of the field.

The occasional complaints I see to your posts are generally folks who just don't seem to understand that you are a forum sponsor and as such advertising sales from your store is something that you have payed for and is generally appreciated by the other members.

I say keep up the good work.

JZ.

More information, rather than less information, is always welcome. Since this is a private forum, the owner sets the rules. They are what they are and it is what it is. I did make a WBB purchase from Pat, because of the OGR Forum. I came put ahead. I have no complaints. If more sponsors want to sell us stuff, more power to us! This is a very interactive forum, the best in fact, and I am for anything that maintains enthusiasm for trains.

I personally think that anyone who brings bargain prices to the attention of the forum readership is doing people here a favor. As Charly said, you are not forced to read the posting after all. I also like Charlie from Nassau Hobby posting his listings for MTH releases. It's all useful information if you are looking around to buy something.

Pat,

Please keep posting your specials for forum members. Aside from Scenic Express and yourself, who else offers discounts specifically for the OGR forum? And if another business or two were to step up to your level of advertising, the competition would benefit the modeler even more.

PS: Any forum member pre-order discounts for the AtlasO 25,500 Gallon Tank Car in Cargill Vegetable Oils (one of each number) and the PLMX (one of each number)?

I have no problem with sale notifications either and thank you for being a sponsor.

Furthermore, I would like to see a posting here right now from someone who was complaining and their reason for doing so. I'm sure whoever it is, if he/she has the guts to actually do it, would get an earful.

I'm afraid that's never going to happen.  They just want to inflate their ego and remain cowards behind the keyboard.  Perhaps it would better for all for them to remain there.

We went through this the last time you posted about the Lionel 2-6-6-2 locomotives. I think many times people like pass judgement to quickly before looking at all the facts and Rich had to set them straight last time. I am glad you offer things. Many times products are missed out on because we miss when they come out. Keep up the good work and I hope to stop by next week on my way through Wheeling.

Thanks Mark
See you soon.

Pat,

As long as the OGR folks have a policy that allows forum sponsors to post special offerings from time to time, I see no reason for you to worry about ANY comments that might otherwise bring your posts into question.

Some folks here want to anoint themselves as the forum police, and unfortunately to some degree that's encouraged by the silly buttons that allow folks to "notify" the moderators whenever they see something here they don't like.    And that runs the gamut from avitars that don't quite follow the "rules" to posts that bother them for one reason or another.

Whatever... That's THEIR problem (i.e., the naysayers) -- not yours.  Most folks here act like adults, and should be treated as such.  Folks here -- as well as the moderators -- already know how I feel about that point.    So thanks for being a sponsor, and please keep posting your specials.  I've picked up some nice stuff from you over the past 6 months or so... And your service is terrific!!!
