Way too many self-proclaimed moderators with nothing better to do around here.

Pat, Nothing wrong with posting specials as long as they are on the buy sell part of the forum.  I feel its bad taste to post them in the general discussion part. Even worse to sneak them in someone’s thread. That’s shady in my opinion.

I do like Marty’s idea of a “Forum Sponsor area that only the forum sponsors could post to with these specials.” Unfortunately, the same self-proclaimed moderators mentioned above are probably competitors of yours and will continue to whine.

Kurt

You are a sponsor on a private forum that needs money to operate.  And you are in the business of selling trains, at good prices.  There is nothing wrong with any of that, and your sale postings are between you and the people who own the forums.  Anyone else is just being a busy-body.  if they feel that strongly you shouldn't post, they can sponsor the forum.

Hi Pat,

I enjoyed speaking with you on the phone early this morning.  I ordered the New York and Atlantic ore car from you right after we hung up and within minutes I got an email telling me that it had shipped - WOW, WHAT GREAT SERVICE!!!!!!

You just keep on posting those great deals, it is dealers like you that deserve all the space you need here on the forum.

Thanks for being there for me when I needed that certain car!  Thanks also for being there for everyone else who needs you.

Best,

Dave

I disagree. I don't think his or any other sponsor's offers need to be relegated to a special section. I'm generally not in the market for used equipment since I've got enough of that of my own already therefore I don't generally peruse the For Sale/Trade section. So if Pat or anyone else has a blowout sale or some other kind of special deal they would like to offer, I see nothing wrong with posting it here. I, for one, wouldn't know about it otherwise.

I talked to Rich Melvin today. He told me to keep on posting.
Thanks
Pat

As I said before, Pat not only supports the mag but the site as well, and on top of that, he tosses us a chance at great deals...who on earth could complain about that?!

Like others, I got a great deal and a bottle of free smoke fluid, and all I bought was a lionel stationary crane...no-one else would do that.

Hey Pat, can you get MTH parts? I need a few things and I'd happily buy from you...

As long as its not at spam levels or in the middle of unrelated posts, I welcome info on real cut throat deals, new offerings, free trial stuff..... Normal "mild cut"or regular sales adds? I think they belong in for sale or advertiser perma link etc.. Really the only people that ultimately count are the premium paid subscribers, the owner of this site and his pockets. Thanks to all, for allowing us freeloaders to still hang out.

I want to thank all of the OGR members for their support. The specials will keep coming. I have just secured a amount of WBB Shark A-A diesels. We should be able to sell these for $169.00 and $9.99 shipping anywhere in the 48 states.

The road names should be as follows.

PRR 5 STRIPE GREEN

PRR 5 STRIPE TUSCAN

DH  SILVER AND BLUE

B&O PASSENGER PAINT SCHEME

BALDWIN DEMO

NYC LIGHTNING STRIPE

I WILL POST THESE AS SOON AS THEY HIT THE DOOR.

THANKS

Hey Pat you've more than paid for the privledge to post here and it's good to know you're not only a sponser but a contributer / participant.

It's probably difficult line for you as business man to post and not risking offending, so it does take abit of inteligence and maybe some courage.

Ok I'm going to go wipe my nose off now  be fore I complain about still waiting for you to answer my previously unanswered question on another thread: Could you please offer a discription of the White Christmas smoke scent?

Best regards

Sorry, The White Christmas is a sugared pine scent that is sweeter than regular Pine.
Thanks

Pat,

My ad killer would have kept me in the dark about your shop, but

word of mouth by other members and your posts made me aware

of you. I recently purchased a locomotive from you,  not necessarily

the lowest price around, others were asking $1.00 less... But, you

had it in stock & you shipped it quickly. I couldn't ask for better service,

so I feel that your posting here is a positive thing.

illegitimi  non carborundum.

Dave

John said it very well. I feel the same way.

Larry

Keep posting.  Please.

I assume that Rich M, et al. are good with that (ergo, it's part of the arrangement of being a forum sponsor).  The more you sell to the forum membership, the more likely you are to continue to sponsor the forum, the better we all will be.

And, thank you for sponsoring the forum.

I would like to make this promise I can meet or beat any ones prices on RailKing-MTH if you pre-order the items. Our website will be going through a major renovation with addition of a pre-ordering section. We also will be competitive with any other dealer on Lionel, Williams, Weaver Trains.
Our service is the best in the industry.
Thanks
Pat

Tough crowd.... huh, Pat?

Hey  Jim

And now the fun starts. I hope my customers are that loyal. The best thing we offer is we have two certified Techs that can repair trains while you wait. Our inventory is huge and we have a lot invested. We love selling trains and making friends. Our store has been in business over 18 years.

Thanks

Pat

Thanks Allan
I hope you enjoy your track cleaning car.
Thanks
Pat
PS try the smoke you will like it.

By the way, that track cleaning car I purchased from you works just fine (Pat sent it to us for a Smoke Signals listing and I ended up buying it).  I still have to give the smoke fluid a try, but that's only because I rarely use the smoke feature on my locomotives.

If the forum moderator allows sponsors to post ads here, that decides it. I do think, however, that people are being a little harsh about those who may have complained not knowing the rule. There is a separate for-sale forum, and there are good reasons for separating ads from train chit chat. I too am totally fine with the sponsor ad rule and appreciate the support of all the sponsors but also understand the impulse of some when ads appear here. How about a special graphic to identify ad postings by sponsors?
