I have some observations regarding my ZW-L that might be helpful to people.
For Legacy and Lionel:
- Works great with 990
- Easy to Use and setup
- Powers my older conventional Lionel engines, Legacy, and LC perfectly
For DCS:
- Powering the TIU with the ZW-L in passive mode on Fixed 1 out degrades the DCS signal from all channels, but Fixed 1 is the most impacted.
- Powering the TIU with a Radio Shack wall wart in Aux and passive with TIU Fixed 1 out connected to ZW-L degrades F1 (4-5), but signal on F2 at 7-8.
- Powering the TIU with a Radio Shack wall wart in passive with TIU Fixed 2 out connected to ZW-L signal 7-8, Fixed 1 not connected.
- Legacy connected though ZW-L degrades DCS
General:
- Third party Analog volt meters do not give accurate voltage measurements below 15 volts on ZW-L.
- Vibrates something in my K-line A-5 and F3 TMCC Engines and my PS2 NW-2
- ZW-L vibrates all loose Fastrack connections including on bus bars at Voltages below 18 volts. High vibration and loud below 15 volts.
As a note on the DCS issues, I did test all the same setups with a PH180 through a Powermaster and with a postwar ZW. All signals were 10s. All DCS testing was done with a 30 inch fastrack test track with both a PS2 and a PS3 engine.
Please let me know if you are experiencing issues like mine with your ZWL. I really like this Transformer and its integration with Legacy, the DCS stuff and vibrations are an annoyance that I think I can work through.
