Its a temporary Christmas layout guys. Started it Dec 1st, ready by the 24th. Had some fun, now I need the shop back. A yearly deal, just like Walt....who I am sure can appreciate the efforts.

There are many of us in this same boat. I will run some trains for the rest of the week, then take up the track and snow, and maybe plan what next year will bring before I store all the boards in the other shed. Sad for me also!

Heater? I got rid of my usual kerosene and bought a nice looking job from Home Depot that runs off of a 20 lb propane tank. Worked great from Dec 1st til this week. Sun it got so it would cut off after about 10 minutes.

Under warranty, so I called the outfit and they told me what they thought was bad. When she asked for my ser. #, I asked what she was going to do. They were going to send me a part and I had to put it in! Remind anyone of certain train makers?

The piece looks impossible to get to...and torx screws no less. I have 2 repair centers by me, and a HD. I may just return it and get a new one...which will probably do the same thing!

Thanks for sympathizing! Greg

Oh yeah, I wish it were that easy for me Rob.

Walt, maybe this will make you feel better.

Here is what things look like after the next 2hrs and 50 minutes!

No, your eyes are not bad, it looks about like the last one. Time was spent under the board ridding it of wires, and packing up those items. Not as easy as it looks in that first Pict above.

I still have to take up track, store snow battens, dismantle the boards and store them. But I wanted to get it all off but for snow and track and use the next couple of days to just have fun and run trains before doing those last steps. I may even try to plan the boards for next Christmas....I would like to do a double decker. Bottom about 8 x 12 or 16 w/ a 4' top unit also, maybe as long as the bottom.

Oh....and I have that pile of boxes waiting for me to stow into the attic in the next day or so also. See second pict!

For Walt's benefit ( I did not want him to think I am a Superman with those first picts)

It stayed like the pict above for the last 10 days, so I could run trains, do repairs and test things for next year. There are 5 hours and 30 minutes involved to get to the picture in the last post above.

Then, yesterday , I started on taking it all down: wiring, track, snow, boards, etc.

The following picts show about 4 hours of wire and track removal done Saturday with the first pict. (It seems to take almost as much time to take up track and wires as it does to put them down!)

Then, today, another 3.5 to get the boards to the "apart" stage and ready to store, along with boxing it all up and getting it into the attic.

Tomorrow, I still have to move the boards out of the shop and into the back shed.

Feeling better Walt? About 13 hours of take down this year. It was about 16 last year. Improved with practice?

Until next year, when I do it again (maybe!?) your friend, Greg
