0-6-0T LC 2+ smoke unit

You don't have to be an expert, the smoke unit is not centered on the stack as it should be.   You might be able to reach down with a small screwdriver and pull it over, otherwise the shell has to come off.

You should get decent smoke from that one, I have a pair of the 0-6-0T LC+ 2.0 locomotives from the original run, they smoke fine.

Perhaps a wire has been pinched and the insulation broken, so the power can bypass the switched. Seems far fetched but this model does have wires running right past the spinning flywheel.

Clearly some internal fault.  If the smoke switch is off, it should not have any power to the smoke unit.

I was able to center the smoke unit in the stack. It did not improve the output. It's still barely visible and the amount is the same with the smoke switch on or off.

I don't have any new ideas without actually seeing it.  It's pretty obvious that it's going to have to come apart to diagnose this issue.

Here is a link that might help you get the locomotive apart. You don't have to modify the chuff but this will help you get the thing apart so you can see what's going on in there.

Thanks for the link. It looks helpful in taking the engine apart. I probably won't get to it until I get back to PA next week. I'm still in FL for the holidays. I'll post an update when I take a look inside.
