I love the Lionel logo on the cylinder up front. That's a sharp looking locomotive! Has Lionel done a Locomotive of the Year before?
Locomotive of the year? Says who???
I had to look up what Flash Coat Color was:
"Special metallic pigment in the paint that causes it to reflect back various colors under light."

Several. I'll see if I can find them.
2021 (2133900)
2022 (2231330)
I have some how missed these the last two years.

@BillYo414 - That's how many of us feel about Life in general - due to COVID.
I think it's cool but I am concerned that Lionel will have contributed to mental health problems amongst three rail hobbyists who do not like fantasy paint schemes .
I like the design. I wish they had a traditional sized option also.

Most definitely. I couldn't agree more!
It seems odd to do the locomotive of the year at the beginning of the year but I do like the idea of doing a locomotive of the year.
I like it. However, I bet you that blue color comes in nowhere close to that picture......based on past items from Lionel.
NICE locomotive!

Beautiful machine. I like it. Ordered.

I bought the 120th Anniversary GS engine and love it. I’ve never owned a Dreyfuss and I like the Lionel paint scheme. As with the 120th engine it gives me an option to buy the engine since I don’t collect New York Central or Southern Pacific. I’m a little concerned over the statement at the top. If I’m pre-ordering an engine the artwork/color/etc. should be illustrated in the advertisement. Otherwise I’m ordering in the wind. Help us out Lionel!!!!

Thanks for thinking about the rest of us, but we have plenty of other things to spin our brains.
Seriously though, three-rail trains are toys. These locomotives of the year are clearly toys, and this new one is a grand one at that, although it's not my style so I won't be buying one.
I think that it's fair to say that most of us don't have a big problem with them or our numbers would be dwindling, and the number of 2-Railers would be increasing substantially, because of things like this.
Neither appears to be happening.

Must find someway to convince the CFO..........
I really like it overall. Not crazy about the "limited edition" below Lionel Lines.

I second the motion, eliminate "limited edition" on the tender. Instead, create an unique builders plate to reflect a limited build status. As far as a fantasy scheme, it is spot on.

I hope it doesn't look like my Carolina Electric Blue Legacy Camelback that requires me to wear sunglasses when I run it. 😎
My first set for a looong time had Lionel Lines on it. Like it, just too big.
Is this locomotive being produced in Standard O or Traditional? Thank you in advance.

That thing is sharp! Hopefully I'll get to see one in person at some point.

You are more than welcome to come to my layout and see it on display if you are ever in the Knoxville Tennessee area!
Bit of a haul for me but I'll keep you in mind in case it ever comes up! @Sams Trains

Had some fun with the new loco tonight with @leapinlarry and @will2926! I might do a review video on this one soon, for those who want to see it in more detail

Well, no one can say Lionel didn't do a good job matching the paint with the prototype on this Dreyfuss.

I get that these don't appeal to everyone but I kinda like the "Lionel" branded locos. They seem to sell well enough and in reality it's just another fantasy pain job. Enjoy your locomotive!
I think the Lionel branded locos are a good link to the past. It's the intersection of nostalgia and new tech in my opinion. Maybe they aren't for everyone but that's ok. I think they look cool! They would just look odd on my model railroad.
