Nice!  You are the king of doorstops!  Tell us about the cars - still shots broadside?

Hey, That is really great Carey.  Any chance all that track is stock Scalecraft? I have an ad for their sectional track "on pine wood with roofing shingle ballast".  Just curious

Hello all here we have a 1941 Megow / Scale Model Railways / Ferris  NYC Consolidated polishing the rails. 

Megow bought / took over / worked with Scale Model Railways in 1941 adding the steamer to the Megow catalog ... however Ferris was offering the engine independently also under his own name ..both out of Huntington , Ind . 

1942   Megow only offered their freight cars  and diesel nose kit ..no more steamers ...and the war ended all metal use by mid year .   Good running engine with a KD #3 happy to pull anything behind it .

For 1941, that is a fantastic locomotive.  It looks just a good as anything made today.

Track is Multiplex ... 1939 ..sectional track ..or they would design an entire layout for you all in sections ... brass pins connect to bus bar wire  under the roadbed ... just push together ...no rail clips needed 

Multiplex was a top line and expensive  track-work system for the well to do of the time who did not have the time to be spiking rail .

Scalecraft sections  are much more simple ... . thin plywood and the roofing singles ....... 

Below are some photos of the 3 passenger cars ..reefer is Scalecraft 

The one coach with the pivoting vestibules is a Alexander built up sides  and wood floor and roof  mid /late 30's .

The other two cars ??? metal sides   no 10 penny nails holding them on ...nicely done ...so who made them ?? open to suggestions ...  ...both cars came from Seacrest collection last year ..I have two more from the set marked for UP

Nice stuff Carey, I'm sorry it looks like I won't be able to make the show this weekend, I would have liked to see some of your trains up close.  I am sort of on again/off again and go in cycles with this stuff.  I've picked up a decent amount of older prewar/postwar scale stuff, some in bad shape.  I was hopping to see some Scalecraft drivers or other parts if I made to the show, but maybe next time!  Enjoy and save some more doorstops!
