I am busy debugging my layout wiring, newly finished, the layout has a zw transformer that was bought rebuilt and never used (as background). There are two questions I have:
1)When I pulled it out of the box (had not opened it in years), the front coupler is broken. Lionel on its website doesn't have it, any suggestions for another possible source?
2)The whistle on it isn't working. I think the whistle controller on the transformer works (does the same thing on both the A and D handles), since I see what I would expect, when activating it the light grows brighter, so that likely is fine. everything is still packed away with my rolling stock, so I don;t have another whistle enabled piece available to test it.
I haven't taken it apart yet, but I will check the wiring, make sure the board is connected, make sure the speaker is connected (and check that). Is there anything else I can look at, or if the obvious, wires not connected, connector not seated on the pcb, isn;'t it, do I need a new board? Lionel seems to have it in stock.
Just wanted to know things I can look for before taking it apart. I'll also on the bench power it with a transformer I know has a working whistle controller and make sure it isn't the ZW.
