Hello OGR,

Has anyone put some cars from each set on the same train?

Do they look good together…

For example, do the Tucson colors match very well?

Generally do the cars complement each other, or do they look strange together (albeit the real prototypes may have never come together)

When you can your views would be appreciated! From the very small Lionel or hobby store site product pics it is very hard to tell.

Thanks in advance for reading this post

CLARIFICATION UPDATE - for those who may be unsure the original post pertains to Lionel Norfolk Southern 611 Excursion Coach passenger coach sets (4-pack-#1927200, 2-pack-#1927600) from 2019 ... AND ... the Norfolk Southern Executive Train passenger car sets (4-pack, 2-pack) from 2020 having diner, sleeper coach, and generator cars.

Ken,

Tough question.  What looks good(acceptable) to you may not look good to someone else.  For instance, many O scale modelers only run passenger cars which came from a manufacturers' set.  Others prefer the look afforded by purchasing cars one at a sime from one or more manufacturers.  As discussed many times before, Pullman Green is a rather dubious color which tends to lead me to believe that N&W and PRR Tuscan may have looked different on different cars depending on length of service, weather and type of ballast of the home railroad.

John, thanks for your comments! I have not thought about other manufacturer's fit with cars these cars mentioned in the post.

I am honestly trying to figure out with these two sets what Lionel is trying to do. If their similarities are nearly 100% same why not add more cars to the first set out (the 611 Excursion) with new car numbers fand car types from the history of the real trains, vs. make it seem like a completely different set for collectors.

The basic question remains, how similar are these cars? Does anyone have examples of both sets? The pictures and documents put out to buy from are very difficult to judge for big $$ purchases.

- Ken
