Really great work!
You did an excellent build on the roundhouse.
Excellent work Doug. Really coming along nicely...

Clem
The roof is 4 separate sections, front, 2 center, and the rear. I only have the front and
front center piece done so far, but all 4 will be removable. This will give us access to the interior for detailing and lights. I still have a lot of work to do on it, finish the roof, interior detailing, lights, weathering etc... but it's getting that "finished" look to it.
It's really coming along! The roundhouse is going to be awesome when completed. Heck, the whole layout is going to be awesome when completed. Love the lighted display cases in front too.
Thanks for keeping us updated.
Progress is slow, but it's still progress, thank you.
The roundhouse is a plaster kit from Dennis Brennan, and based on a prototype back in the PA area. It included everything, along with very detailed instructions, and I have pretty much followed the instructions to the "T" except for the roof. The roof is being cut from 1/16" hard board after making the pattern, stall by stall. The plywood floor was a lot of work by itself, but very critical as far as the holes for the support beams for the RH.
The turntable is a Millhouse River 34", and runs on track power through a ERR DC commander, set at 100 speed steps. It moves so slow, you can't tell if it's moving or not. We are going to upgrade to the fully adjustable indexing kit that Millhouse River sells. I seen it on display at York last October, and it's absolutely wonderful. Our RH is in a ways from the edge of the layout, so even though the TT will move very slow, it's kinda hard to see for "eyeballing" the track line ups. Especially with 7 stalls and more tracks to go in after the RH is done. If you have a RH/TT close to the edge of your layout where it's easily seen, you definitely would NOT NEED an indexing kit.
I've seen many of the big steam engines you have, so I assume you will have a large engine facility when you get to building your layout
Sir,
Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. It really helped.
Been thinking a lot about my engine facility, your ideas are fantastic.
Again, beautiful work.
Laidoffsick, I just saw the video of the ride along on your layout. All I can say is WOW! Your layout has far exceeded any of the plans I proposed. I really like that you worked in a lower level single track line. So you can easily run three trains concurrently without worry. The ride along video really makes sense of the plan - what hd camera did you use?
Obsidian.
Laidoffsick,
I was reviewing your videos today. Made a lot of notes and saw the one about your RH again. Wow, that thing has some pieces to it! Great work and posts pictures of it when done, I am dying to see it finished!
If it's OK, I may contact you later this year about how you made the RH floor.
Thanks!
Hi Doug,
Everything is looking great, thanks for the update.
Say hello too your Wife,Mom, and Dad!!!!!!
Thanks,
Alex

Obsidian.
It's an old Sony HDR-SR1, 1080i video camera. The camera isn't that great but the Windows Movie Maker for HD rendering is absolutely fabulous. The newer version in Windows 8 is more than enough to do what I do, it's even better than the video editing software programs I bought.

Thanks Alex. Tell D we said HI as well. We're not gonna make it to York in April, but probably in October.
How or who did you make the Brewery? Was it a kit, bought or scratch-built? If scratch-built do you have any more data/plans?
Keep the updates coming! As always, an amazing job!!

Alex Malliae and Alan Graziano scratch built the brewery for us, then shipped it to CA.
Nice work. The RH and TT area are looking great.
Video Update # 5 ---- FINALLY
Very nice, your really coming along.
WOW, love the rock wall. The round house will be the center of attention too. Have enjoyed keeping up on your thread over the last year. Thanks for all the great info and ideas. Nick
I really liked your video. The roundhouse is really turning into a fine model. I have never seen anyone have working smoke stacks before. It is hard to imagine the number of lights that will be in it. I like your to the floor rockwork. The shelving is very well done. I really like the lit shelves inset along the sides. Thank you for sharing.
Do you have a track plan posted anywhere?
Do you have a track plan posted anywhere?
Mark, the track plan is posted half way down on the 1st page of this thread.
Wow, not sure where to start with the compliments!
The RH is going to be awesome. Love everything about it, the lights will really add to the effect you are trying to achieve. Excellent.
The shelving being a part of the layout is a nice touch also. Love the LED lighting for each shelf.
As always, great work, look forward to seeing more.
Excellent video!

Ah ha! How did I miss it. I must have skipped page 1 when I was skimming through. I am late on this thread, but will be looking through to see the highlights of what I missed.
Thank you
You've really come a long way on the layout, Doug. Very nice work.
