Anyone have one of these? Opinion on them?

Any opinions on these? Anyone have one?
Yes, I have the "late" version vs the "early" version.
Opinion?
I have had a lot of sound trouble with mine. Have replaced some components, including bypassing the chuff switch buried down in the locomotive innards, with a reed switch on the tender. It is now "pretty good" but will still chuff a little strangely at low speed. Never a running problem of any kind. Just sound trouble. It is hard to work on as there is so little space in the thing, all crammed with electronics.
I still like it and have tried, unsuccessfully to date, the get one of the "early" versions too.

Beautiful piece! Do you have a video of it running? Also do you think it could run on 0-36 curves?
I am still working on how to upload videos to this site. Hope this one is successful. I see I forgot to flip the safety tread down between engine and tender.
O-36? Pretty doubtful but I can't say as I have nothing smaller than O-72, hardly a test for this small engine. The instruction pamphlet states O-54.

Wow! I like it a lot. Sadly all I have is 036 curves on my layout and I want brass. It's a bad combo so I'll have to get small brass equipment for the time being. I hate to spend $900 on one only to find out it doesn't work. I found both versions at JDs trains.
Hi Matt. I found that JD's listing. Pretty sure it's just "boiler plate," out of date. They have neither version. I had a buy for the "early" version all lined up on the buy/sell forum here but, at the last second, realized the one for sale was 2-rail.
Further to that ad, it states "This item will be shipped directly from Sunset Models/3rd Rail and is subject to their availability."
Sadly, I have long since determined that 3-rd Rail have none left.
Makes me wonder if there site is updated. I also found a 3rd rail AWT in UP Colors I liked but I'm not sure if they have it. It says they do though. http://www.jdstrains.com/3r-up-aux-y.html
