Norm,
Glad you like it! That looks right at home on your layout. I can't wait to see it weathered.

Just wanted to give a quick update of my experience with the step issue on the SD9's. Some months ago when the step issue surfaced, Scott posted that he would work on making extra steps available for those that wanted to install them themselves. A couple of weeks ago, I emailed Scott and asked what the status was on obtaining the extra steps for my 3 SD9's(2 B&LE and 1 DMIR). Bear in mind that Scott was in China at the time, but he responded quickly that the steps were available if I wanted them. I emailed that I did want them and Scott sent off an email to the home office in California, and have them ship the required steps that I had asked for. Within a couple of days, the steps were in my mailbox at no charge. So, my sincere thanks to Scott and his employees for the first class customer service I received.

They will not negotiate an 036 curve. 042 is really pushing as 054 is the recommended minimum radius.
Wish I had better news. They are fabulous locomotives!

That's what I thought. Thank you for the response. These are beautiful engines!
Matt,
It is worth finding room for an O54 curve! :-)
Best to you on your layout.
Sounds like the perfect opportunity to add 12” to the front of that layout and add that O54 loop. I have 2 of these, once I put kadees on them to close the gap they are some of the nicest and the favorite diesels in my collection.

That's why one of mine is in 2R! no coupler conversion required.
Half an hours worth of effort to make the conversion.
I’m questioning whether I want to make the conversion over to 2 rail. Yes, I can be a total Richard but some stuff is outa hand.
I'm only in 2 rail for PRR and CNJ mid 50's at this point. My club is three rail so that's where my ATSF, SP and Amtrak runs.
I want to go 2 rail cuz it looks better and DCC control to one standard is what I’m longing for that 3 rail lacks. .
O-72 is probably a better minimum choice. The flanges are small and the drive is relatively complicated. with an external drive shaft and universal joints near the fuel tank.
