Country Joe,

If I can find it when I get home, I'll post a picture of my original Lionel Milk Platform attached to a FasTrack Operating track with the removable sides.

It works perfectly.

You can even put the removable side back on on one side after you mount the platform..it hides the lip.

I even cut the ends off the other removable side and reattached so they butt up against the platform.  A nice clean look.

As a side note, MTH has or had a milk car platform extra wide to fit their RealTrax.  it fits Fastrack also with no need to remove sides.   Just another option.

I am with you guys on using the transition pieces. On two of my sidings I transitioned to o gauge RCS tracks for the milk car and horse car, and also the culvert loader/unloader and 264 forklift unloader as Fast Track will not go through the base without altering (cutting) the FT. Furthermore the Icing Station also needs the "reach" that o gauge or Gargraves (my previous layout) provides. I am a sucker for postwar style accessories from both Lionel and Flyer.

Okay, I found my old pics of my original PostWar Milk Platform attached to the Fastrack Operating section:

 Here it is assembled

Detacheable side piece removed.  Removed on platform side also.   To reattach the side piece over the lip, you need to remove the little connecting lug on the center of the side piece.  2 Seconds with a Dremel.milk4

I marked and cut ends off the detachable side piece on the platform side to reattach and butt up against the platform for a clean look.

Small pieces attached.

I think it turned out nicely.

You don't have to do the extra cosmetic work I did.   The original milk platform will fit perfectly with the detachable side pieces removed.  The extra little bit I did was simple and took maybe 10 minutes.
