I now have the #577 and am in the process of doing repairs.

The two areas that attach the motor and whistle to the frame are missing the attaching hardware.

Screws and grommets I believe.

Would anyone have an exploded parts diagram they might share?

As well, any comments on the book by Maury Klein, "Complete Service Manual for American Flyer Trains".

They seem to fetch a fair buck on line.  Would you recommend it?

Thanks

Soo Line

Thanks Major

One end of the motor whisltle assembly to the frame makes sense to me.

The hole in the motor whislte plate matches the hole in the frame.

This lends nicely to your screw and grommet information.

But on the other end, the hole in the motor whistle plate is much larger.

I can't understand the reason for this.

If isolation was the reason, why two very different hole sizes?

Does the larger hole need some kind of sleeve/bushing?

Thanks again

Soo Line
