Something that one needs to consider when making a purchase is to add in the potential cost of shipping and item back to the manufacturer in the event of a problem during the warranty period. Basically if you get a good price but then need to pay shipping costs you really did not get such a great bargain.
I guess this is just another reason to buy from your LHS.
Case in point. Ordered and picked up a new Lionel CAB1L from an authorized dealer and picked up the unit at York. Got a good price. Now that there is an issue with the product it may cost me as much as $10 to ship it to Lionel for repair. The dealer is too far away to go to their location.
So, next time I'll figure in the cost of returning a product when making a purchasing decision.
