So can you use the same walwart for the new Base-1L as the original command base? Or does it need the new one that comes with the Base-1L?.

Also, if you want to use the new Cab-1L along with the original Cab-1, do you need both command bases hooked up, or will they both work with the new Base-1L? if you need both bases, how do you connect both to the TIU?

Thanks, Rod

what original base?

cab-1L is a low cost legacy unit.  with a cab-1L you really do not need the cab1

I'm pretty sure the brick for the BASE1L is different than the BASE1, I know it's a different size as I recall.  I wouldn't mix them...

Yes I think you are correct John.

Meanwhile I see that the CAB-1L can be used with the Legacy base, so that makes that straightforward. I also read that there should only be one command base connected to a layout, so that would seem to rule out using an original TMCC command base together with either a Base-1L or a Legacy base. So it looks like it will be Legacy, with the CAB-1L for standby/visitor use, with the #50-1032 com cable between the TIU and the Legacy base.

To clarify what Rod posted - you CAN use an original Cab1 base at the same time as a Legacy 990 base.  That requires the special Y cable that comes with the Legacy base.  I have both connected on my layout and can use Cab1, Cab2, LCS iPad and iCab simultaneously.  You just shouldn't have more than one base's U post connected to the track at a time.  So only my Legacy base has a wire from it's U post to the outside track.  The U post on the original Cab1 base isn't connected to anything.

So if I am understanding this correctly, the Cab1 base communicates with the Legacy base through the Y cable to get the Cab1 signal to the track via the wire from the Legacy base U terminal. And that means that the Cab1, Cab1L, the Cab2, and the DCS handheld could all be used simultaneously? Do I have that correct?   If so, good news.

Thanks, rod
