I first met Errol Ohman when we started filming a DVD release for the Golden Gate Railroad Museum in Northern California. He became a good friend over the months we filmed and the years that followed. In countless cab rides I got to know his terrible jokes and long stories but most of all his smile. He was the happiest in the cab of Southern Pacific 2472. He even met his wife on a train ride.

This video is when we started slipping on a curve and up grade for a photo run by. I didn't think we could get out of it but Errol did it. I will miss him terribly. Don

I'm sorry Don to hear the about the passing of your friend Errol. He certainly was a very skilled engineer. He was very patient when the train lost traction and started slipping but instead of just giving it more power he finessed the engine until he could gain traction, a real test of his skill. We sometimes take for granted the skill required to run these steam engines.

May his memory be for a blessing.
