Just got back the first two casting sets from the foundry, and did a little clean up to see how it came out. Pretty happy so far. I am planning to have it in running shape and painted by Spring York, but if I get motivated, maybe have it running at the SGMA meet in Feb in Chantilly. Shell is about 30" long. I've had the machined cast steel wheels done for some time, and bought up a bunch of large pantagraphs, and have gears/drive components, so will be working the details to make up a prototype over the next few months.
For those that know the Gold Standard GG1, this one is a couple of inches longer and the body is narrower, to have scale proportions. Cast aluminum, about 1/4" thick, so NO ZINC PEST (sorry USA trains guys).
