The Silk City Railway of Paterson NJ has been chartered and is a subsidiary of the neighboring Erie. Their first customer is Rheingold Beer.

Outstanding, Ben!
This is our first special run car. Figured all the Long Island clubs do it why not us
Any for sale to the public?
About 125 are for sale to the public Are you a public? Posted in the Buy Sell
Perfect timing. I was just thinking the other day that I've not seen a new custom run Weaver TOFC announced for a while now.. Email sent for one.
When, I worked in Bushwack-Bushwick, Brooklyn, we had a Rheingold brewery right down the street, from the building I worked in, but the brewery closed shortly after and apt. houses took its's place!

I thought you were talking about your avatar. Cute new railroad. And the old brewery? Well............
Gerry
Where's Miss Rheingold? You gotta do a followup with a picture of Miss Rheingold. Kind of like that one Weaver did for Genny Light.
Very nice Ben. Nice work
Alex
Vote, vote for Miss Rheingold, Miss Rheingold 19XX. Always remember that tune.
outstanding !!!!
Really very good looking. I recall the ads on TV way, way, back when. I was too young to drink beer back then but I figure the ads were helpful in shaping my tastes for later life! :-)
When I was young I would take a sip of my father's Rheingold. I remember
the Rheingold pavilion at the Worlds Fair.

This was the second beer I drank ( Of course the first was Ballantine ) I has an uncle that had a refrigerator in his garage that was full of those white and red cans top to bottom. We used to sneak out there and steal a can or two when we weren't old enough to drink. Of course we would have to stick a warm one back in or he would have noticed. Rheingold had a huge brewery in Brooklyn In 1949 they bought the old Trommers brewery in Orange NJ. I found these pics of the Brooklyn brewery
This is the Orange brewery
I got 2 of them, with a limited run of 125, you never know guys, these could be the next Natty Boh. That's only half the number I had made and look what they bring today.
"My beer is Rheingold, the dry beer.
Think of Rheingold whenever you buy beer.
It's not tart, its' not sweet,
Extra dry flavored treat,
Won't you try extra dry Rheingold beer."
Musta been a great jingle, I can still sing it after all those years and beer-soaked brain cells under the bridge. I remember using a church key to open 'em for my Dad and his beer-fueled pals at their softball games. By the third or fourth inning I could sneak a swig without anybody noticing.

Ordered mine. Still think we need a picture of Miss Rheingold!

Anybody that rode the subways in the 1960's knows about the Miss Rheingold contestbut they never had the Miss pictures on any of the delivery trucks. Here are a few
The second from the right looks just like Mary Tyler Moore. Very cool. Do you have a date for the photo Ben?

That was the 1964 finalists It was the 25th anniversary of the contest.
Thanks Ben. For a Philadelphia kid, it wasn't on the radar. But a quick search shows it was really huge.
Gerry
Ben,
you know the LACKAWANNA ran in new jersey too.....
Pete
Your giving up the secret on the next car

That is not a truck out of the brewery Thats a distributer delivery truck. These are the real deal straight jobs. These were painted yellow. The trailers can be seen in one of the brewery photo's I posted earlier.
Ben, I don't see info on your website about buying these flats. Nothing in the "store" but previously available RMT stuff.
That truck that John posted sure looks nice. Someone should make those in O scale BigRail

It isn't on our website I listed them on the OGR Buy Sell. We are in transition with webmasters and can't get an easy update. Email me at bluelinec4@yahoo.com
I just happen to have a few of the real deal that will work their way onto the layout
Ben,
That's a pretty good looking truck. Are they available for purchase anywhere? I think you're on to something. We need more Rheingold! BigRail
That was a very limited run from a company called DeHanes. They were the only one that ever did one of the most popular trucks ever The White 3000
This is the version paint scheme it was loosely based on

We gotta petition someone to make a run of these. Diecast direct? I think they could sell an awful lot of this baby. Hey manufacturers...please make this. I'm sure you could run them in other beer names if necessary but I think you could sell enough Rheingold for the whole run BigRail
Rob
I would guess that about 75% of beer delivery trucks between 1950 and 1970 were powered by either a WHite 3000 or White Compact. I can't understand why any of the die cast manufacturers ignored these
ben,
if they did make some, they would all be bought up by some guy in Staten Island.
sounds like a job for the 3D printer
I still don't understand that technology
My package arrived safe and sound and they look great, thanks Ben. If my memory is working correctly, Ben told us there will only be 125 of these made. I'm guessing they will sell out in a relatively short period of time. If your still on the fence about it, yah better pull the trigger.
It would be nice to see some additions to this initial run.

I assumed that the run was larger -- I thought Ben stated that there would be 125 available to the public. I just figured that the hirailers were keeping the rest of the run for themselves or for the layout. I'm not sure what Weaver's minimum run # is but I'm thinking 200-250.
