@P51 Is the NKP #190 running?

Nope, not yet.

I've heard that Doyle has fired up the motor, but a lot of things aren't connected. It can't move under its own power, yet. Like many other train fans, I'm looking forward to the day when I can see this thing moving under its own power.

Brian:  Thank you for all your photos.  The volume and variety of train related photos you have posted can't be matched. The time and effort you put into giving us a glimpse of railroadiana and train photos is incredible. If someone hasn't seen a photo of their favorite railroad aspect, they simply haven't been paying attention.  Thank you. TW

Thank you for your kind words, Ted .  I really enjoy looking at pretty much anything train related, and like to share the many different things that I run across  while looking. Brian

Brian,

I agree with Ted, that your really do give a cross section of trains, model, prototype, and railroadiana!  I hit "like' on a lot of them, but I want to give you credit for sharing so very much!  Thank you!!

Boy, that brings back chilling memories. I rode in HETs (top photo) often on active duty and had a very small hand in the development of the Stryker vehicles, as I was in what eventually became the first Stryker Brigade in the Army, during a transition from heavy mech. I was involved in some of the tests where we picked the interim vehicle before the Stryker design was done, and our experiments had influence over the design to a degree of the vehicle you see on the yellow flats above.

The upper and lower photos, I've seen many times. The center one, I hadn't seen that in a long time. I can't tell the year on the carrier's license plate and the details aren't crisp enough to tell if these jeeps are going to surplus or simply being delivered somewhere without a railhead, or delivered piecemeal.

          a very interesting video:        https://youtu.be/LEAUFP3bPjU

Man-o-man that looks dangerous, almost silly. What could have been the possible purpose of such a stunt?

FrankM

P.S. If we modeled that on a layout, most folks, including myself, would say that it was too fantastical and unrealistic. Right,. folks?

If you watch the video, it will demonstrate the reason this system is used.  The demonstration occurs at 3:00 minutes into the video if you want to fast forward to it.  Kinda clever really.

Thanks for the heads-up, TedW. One doesn't see that every day in life, huh. I'm glad it's automated.
