When I was at York last spring, I stopped by Korber Models and picked up the new radio tower kit.  I finally got around to building it over the Labor Day weekend.  Over those few months, I thought about what type of building to us to house the radio station.  I remember seeing a MTH corner building radio station, but it just wasn't what I was looking for.

As a kid growing up in Frederick Maryland, I remember my dad taking me to the YMCA for swimming lessons and passing the local radio station WFMD in the early 70's.  It was housed in a three story mansion on the corner of 7th and Markets streets.

Soon after, this building was torn down to make room for a parking lot.  The radio station did move to another location in Frederick and is still broadcasting today.

This was the inspiration for what I did on the layout.  First, I had to relocate two house trailers in order to put the building, radio tower, and transmitter building where I wanted it.  Below, are some pictures of what the finished project looks like.

Thanks everyone for your replies.

MONON JIM -  I used Lowes generic gloss white #63002 and Valspar real red satin #65016.  Tip:  Test your lights for 30 seconds before installing them.  A friend of mine didn't test his lights until after the tower was completed. When he hooked them up, the lights burned for a few seconds and went dead.  Korber did replace them at no cost.

Alex M - Thanks for your flattering comments.  The layout was featured in run 258.  I'm posting a few shots that did not make the publication.  I'm going to send you an email later this evening.
