My very first set set was a Sante Fe Super Choef back in the mid 50's when I was 6.   I now have the 90's era version and just never tire of watching it run.  It immediately transports me back to being 6 again and  running the train in the basement of my Unlce's printing shop in Queens.

Love it Jim. I have that set. The engine and cars were absolute top of the line when they came out and in my opinion they are still way up there. I do not like the plastic streamlined cars.

Lionel did a great job on the anodized aluminum in those cars. I know today's trend is to like people in the cars rather than silhouettes, but when you grow up with something sometimes its hard to let it go. I still like the 15 inch cars with the silhouettes.

I think the 11711 remake of the old 2343 Santa Fe is the most accurate and best-looking one Lionel has made.

Very nice, and looks great in operation. These cars are different ones from those that were made for set with the engines (which cars had smooth finish roofs, among other things). Regardless, great looking and classic Lionel.

Three of these passenger cars came in the PWC series set with the Jersey Central FM. Others were in the add-on set. 

I chose these to run behind the 11711 engines because they are the closest in appearance to the original postwar cars associated with the 2343 diesels. They are shinier, but the same style with the roof corrugations.
