There are a few of things to check.

First, some TIU cables were manufactured incorrectly. If, when laid flat, both end clips don't point the same way, the cable is defective.

Second, be certain that the cable is plugged into the TIU's AIU Input port and not the Remote Input port. That can damage the AIU.

Third, make sure that the cable is plugged into the AIU's TIU Input port.

Fourth, make sure that you're using the correct, 6-conductor cable.

This and a whole lot more is all in The DCS O Gauge Companion 2nd Edition, available as either an eBook or a print book from MTH's web store.

Sorry, For some reason your repost didn't show up until after I put up my last reply. That being said, after checking everything again and putting on the original cable ( which I checked ) from MTH  ( I bought a cable locally because I wanted my AIU to be approximately 10' from my AIU and had it installed when I first tried to "Read" my AIU- I did check cable ends and they were wired correctly  it still won't "Read" my AIU.

Don

Years ago I ruined something in my AIU and I think it was because I put the cable from the TIU into the incorrect port on the AIU.  I think the names printed on the AIU are confusing.

I wish they said something clearer like "FROM TIU" and "TO NEXT AIU".  I put masking tape on mine and wrote those so that I never make that mistake again.  Remember: I have to get it right every year since I only have a Christmas layout, something you guys with permanent layouts have to only get right once.
