I am unemployed and will probably have to live in a motel for awhile to start a new job.I need to sell my trains but I always ran in conventional, never bought a command system. Should I sell them to Trainz.com or sell them on ebay and the OGauge forum and expect people to trust me with no odometer readings. I have only ran them around christmas time the last few years so none have alot of mileage on them.

Condition is everything as with most things. I'm assuming from the mention of the odometer, that we're talking MTH PS/2 or PS/3 locomotives? I personally wouldn't be too excited about the exact reading, as long as when I got it the condition was as described with reasonable miles.
MTH PS1 with BCRs,PS2.0 and Atlas and Lionel TMCC.
I always have tremendous results on ebay. Prices always go up on ebay, on the forum they go down.
Well, only the PS/2 locomotives will have a way to check mileage, so for the rest, condition will dictate the price.
We've had pretty good luck selling on Ebay. Price things realistically (i.e. probably 40% less than you paid for them new) and be honest about wear time. Make sure to say that they are "in good running condition" (everything works) and "cosmetically like new," etc., and you should have no problem selling them. Good luck!
I don't know about Lionel collections, but in 2- rail eBay typically brings prices that are so high that the ten percent hit is lost in the noise. I actually write the prices I see on my 3x5 cards that my estate will find with my collection.
I just watched an item I would value at fifty bucks go for 400 - from the photos, it looked like the only useful items were eight sets of cast iron drivers that needed new tires.
If it works like that for collectible 3- rail, then you have only to decide if the effort is worth the extra bucks - and there is effort involved, and shipping hassles, etc.
I think getting as much as you paid on eBay, or anywhere close to that, is a pipe dream. That's especially true in the summer, which is the worst season to be selling trains.
Thanks for the help everyone. Now to make myself acutally put them up for sale.
If ebay is too expensive try www.choochooauction.com Only cost 25 cents to list a standard auction with photo.
I have a few things listed on here and at choochoo auctions.

Problem is, ChooChoo auctions has a much more limited audience. FWIW, you can list 50 items a month free on eBay, it's only when you sell that you have to pay the ridiculous fees.
Very sorry you lost your job. If you have time the Bay is probably the best return. If you want to sell fast and cheap, the Forum is a source obviously. Train Z would probably give you the least.

Johnny,
Good luck with you job search.
A lot of folks, like myself, are very happy running conventional engines. As been previously posted, be honest in your listing and price your items fairly.
Write a brief discription of your items and post pictures. You can always list items on the For Sale forum and if they don't sell, then list them on ebay. This will save you the listing fees from ebay.
