March 6, 2018: This from Classic Trains. The #945 was the last (or next to last) functioning AEM7 to be removed from service. Needless to say, I was pleased to see this.

I look forward to seeing it with my two boys!

I wonder how many of the AEM7's will be given out to the museums? Always liked this Loco and watching it pull at a high speed. Amtrak got their moneys worth when they got these into service. I hope the ACS 64's will do the same. I wish MTH or Lionel will make one of these in O scale and not get cheap on the details like Lionel did with the HHP8.
Look at Eric's Trains on YouTube, His last review is an MTH Amtrak AEM-7. Link is below.
I think Shurlock meant the ACS64 in O scale. It is a nice idea, but I would not get one, as it is not my modeling period. I was also less than fond of the HHP8.
As far as I know, the other functioning AEM7 (the #942) is being stored as the USDOT site in Pueblo, where #900 was first tested. There may be a few others in Wilmington somewhere; I am not sure. The bulk have met the torch.
I believe the MARC AEM7s are also out of service, but I have not heard if they were torched as well. Of course, the SEPTA units still run every day, but their days are numbered:
Perhaps one of the SEPTA units will get preserved somewhere, as they are all the original DC configuration; none ever got the Amtrak-esque AC upgrades. They also run the only surviving ALP44, which would be another nice piece of heavy electric railroading history.

I spoke to an Amtrak engineer a few months ago who told me there are already parts in some ACS64 cabs wearing out or falling apart. I do not see 37 years out of those locomotives. Acela is wearing down fast after 17 years and 3 months; apparently their replacements are already being considered.
Sadly, 'they' just do not make stuff to last, like the Gs and AEM7s, and really ANYTHING from the PRR.
That’s awesome news. I can’t wait to visit 945 at IRM!
i just caught 945 in the Chicago Yard this week while commuting on Metra. I’ll get a pic posted soon for y’all to look at.
No, I was wondering about the real AEM7 loco going to museums. They go to places where they were never used or seen. The GG1 went to many museums that people never seen those also. I like the ACS64 and I think Amtrak will have to get another order of them so they just don't wear out as fast. I watched plenty of times on the North East corridor.
