AIU with Lionel operating track section

I recently picked up a Mth AIU and want to operate my operating track sections. I understand how to wire the MTH operating track section but I also have 2 Lionel operating track sections with RealTrax track adaptors on both ends. According to the AIU manual, 3 wires run from the operating track section to the AIU. What about the Lionel section which uses 4 wires? Wire it the same? Also, I'm using track power. Any help please. Thanks.
