All Nation kits are not all wood.    Many of the cars have sheet metal sides which accurately represent the boxcars and reefers they model.

Quality Craft, Ambroid, and Mainline made wood kits into the 80s.    I think Labelle has taken over the Mainline line.  

You can often find many of these kits at O scale train shows.    Prices are often quite reasonable too.

I forgot to mention "B T S Car Shops".     They do a lot of wood kits of buildings, large ones, and rolling stock.   Most of the rolling seems to be very early prototypes which were all wood cars.   They also have some Urethane kits.   here is a link:

Still the best source of a variety of kits is the 2-rail O scale.   A lot of modelers bought these kits with good intentions of building something they wanted and just never got around to it.    These just show  up at the shows from estates, or because the modeler has finally admitted there are more projects than he/she can do and is putting some up for sale.
