I have three American Flyer remakes that I am putting on spurs on my layout; the 787 log loader, the saw mill and the oil drum loader. They are on Fastrack spurs. I have found that all three need additional height to accommodate my mixture of Lionel, Kline and MTH cars. By placing a 3/8 inch plywood base under each, they work properly for any type of car.
However, even though these are excellent smooth accessories, I have found that placement is key to good operation, especially in the case of the log loader which is placed between two tracks with unloading operation on one side and loading operation on the other.
My question is how to secure their plastic bases to the plywood base attached to the layout base so that they will not move from optimal placement. They all have very small holes through the corners that, given a specific piece, would do the job, but I can't find anything that small. What have others done is this case?
